Gordonstoun is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative Teacher of Design Technology to join this excellent department. The ability to teach Design Technology to lower school and GCSE standard is essential as is the ability to teach A level Design Technology. You will be someone who can enthuse students and promote the importance of Design Technology to the young people of Gordonstoun, in order to help them gain formal qualifications and aid them in taking their place as twenty-first century international citizens. All candidates should be registered or eligible for registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, as this is a condition of employment.
All candidates should be registered with or eligible to register with, the GTCS, as this is a condition of employment and the ability to contribute to the broader curriculum would be an advantage.
Design Technology at Gordonstoun
Design Technology is taught by specialist teachers and is a popular option, both at GCSE and Advanced Level. Students currently sit the AQA Design Technology (Resistant Materials) course and at A Level, students take AQA Design Technology (Product Design).
Each department has its own, well equipped and well-resourced classrooms and workshops, with a technician whose responsibility is exclusively to support that department’s teaching staff.
Teaching and Learning are the central activities in the School and all heads of curriculum areas play a key role in pursuing the highest standards of teaching and learning in their subject in line with the cultural ethos and mission statement of the School. This job description below outlines the responsibilities of the post of Teacher of Design Technology.
