Second Mate (Seasonal)

The Seasonal Second Mate is a key member of the Sail Training team and plays an important role in the delivery of the Sail Training programme at Gordonstoun. Work is usually on board Ocean Spirit of Moray, Gordonstoun’s 80 foot Sail Training ketch, and employment is on a fixed term contract for the whole of Ocean Spirit’s sailing season.

An experienced Housemaster is required from September 2019.  This is a key position in the school and would suit someone with a high level of pastoral experience.  Gordonstoun has 530 students, eight senior school boarding houses and prides itself on the quality of its pastoral care.

A willingness to be fully involved in school life, including the wide range of sporting, creative or outdoor activities, is expected. Accommodation is provided, together with a generous salary and allowances.

General Administrator

(Closing Date: 12 noon Thursday 29th November 2018)

Good administration is at the heart of Gordonstoun running smoothly. The Administrative Assistant’s role is to provide all kinds of back up support to the Officers of Gordonstoun, often thinking of things that others don’t think of, and always looking out for opportunities to improve things. This involves being conscientious, flexible, diligent, efficient and enthusiastic in serving staff, students and parents.

The administrative support provided by the Administrative Assistant may be of a team, a project or of an individual, and may change from time to time.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 5th December.

Management Accountant

(Closing Date: 12 noon Thursday 29th November 2018)

Financial insights are crucial to decision-making at Gordonstoun and this role is responsible for developing models to deliver these, and recommend action based on them. In order to do this, the Management Accountant needs to be conscientious and diligent in understanding the detailed drivers of Gordonstoun’s income and operations. And we want to unlock time to spend on this value-add analysis, so the Management Accountant also has to support the improvement of systems and processes to reduce spent on transaction processing within the Finance team. This role works closely with budget holders and with the Finance Director, supporting her at Board level and with other projects so that the Directorate functions smoothly.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th December.

Accounts Assistant

(Closing Date: 09:00 Friday 23rd November 2018)

This busy role is responsible for assisting with multiple elements of accounts receivable and accounts payable within Gordonstoun’s Finance Department. The Accounts Assistant is conscientious and diligent, consistently double checking things and ensuring that bills and expenses are paid on time and accounted for correctly. This role also includes providing a high standard of customer service to staff at Gordonstoun, students and parents by getting things right first time and having a professional, flexible and courteous manner.
