First Mate - required for immediate start

The First Mate is a full time member of the Sail Training Department and will be a highly motivated and professional individual with a proven record in Sail Training.

Sail Training Voyages take place on “Ocean Spirit of Moray” the School’s 80 foot Oyster Ketch normally based at Plockton on the west coast of Scotland. The vessel is principally used to deliver the School’s sail training programme to students and normally includes an extended summer voyage including regular expedition voyages to Spitzbergen in the High Arctic, and international Tall Ships races. Gordonstoun is seeking to appoint a qualified and enthusiastic teacher of Brass to join the Music Department. The ideal candidate will perform with a secure technique and a competent and appropriate musicality. They will have expertise as a music educator and be an excellent team worker. They will have the ability to instruct students of a wide age range, and be prepared to take a lead role in directing both junior and senior concert bands, jazz band and brass ensembles. Theatre Director in Residence - closing date is Monday 3 June 2019 at 1200hrs

The post holder will be a key member of the drama department responsible for directing and/or overseeing all of the school’s productions taking place throughout the year as well as managing the theatre arts building (Ogstoun Theatre) and working closely with the Head of Music. The theatre is equipped with digital sound and lighting and a relevant technical qualification (or equivalent professional experience) is essential. AV and Theatre Technician - closing date is Monday 3 June 2019 at 1200hrs

The Theatre Technician is a key member of the IT services team supporting all technical needs in theatrical lighting and sound systems together with stage management, rigging and pyrotechnics. The post holder will have a minimum of three years technical experience in a similar environment and supporting educational programmes will be advantageous. S/he will be required to deliver multiple productions each term and be able to plan and deliver technical services for all these productions. A certificate in PAT testing is essential together with a recognised qualification at BTEC/HNC/HND level covering light and sound. The post holder will support the performing arts teams in a residential capacity and the ability to help train and run the student technical teams is also a key part of the role.

Applicants should be technical experts in their field including the use of multi-media/AV equipment and also demonstrate clear proven evidence of managing safety and risk in a theatrical environment. More...

The Sports Coach will be fully involved in the coaching of many different sports at all levels in the Senior and Junior Schools as experience and opportunity permits. The Head of Junior School is responsible for all areas of Junior School life and is a key member of the Gordonstoun Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the overall leadership and development of the school. S/he supports boarding life in a residential capacity, has a teaching timetable and is involved in delivering and supporting a wide range of activities in the school, as well as playing an important role in the local community.
