Junior school tasters
We also arrange Taster Days and Weekends for boys and girls who would like to sample life at the Junior School.
Junior School Taster Weekend on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May 2019
We invite prospective pupils to join our Taster Weekend on 18 and 19 May. This Taster Weekend is for children who will be four and a half (by the end of August 2019) to twelve years old. The emphasis of the day is on fun and it is a good opportunity for both parents and pupils to experience life in the school. We also take the opportunity to assess pupils for entry, but don’t worry, they’re not going to be forced to sit any exams. We simply benchmark pupils by asking them to take standardised tests in Mathematics and Non-Verbal Reasoning and creative writing. Children (aged 8 and over) can choose to spend the night in the boarding house, even if they are not intending to board when they become pupils.
Year 1-4 Taster Morning (Friday 31 January 2020)
This Taster Morning is for children who will be four and a half by the end of August to eight years old. Starting at 9am the children will join their age group in the Junior School and sample a morning of lessons and activities, followed by lunch in the Junior School dining room.
Parents are welcome to stay for the morning too. To see around our school, hear about the curriculum and meet the staff, as well as sampling lunch.
Tasters are held once a term:
- Junior School Taster Weekend on 18-19 May 2019, entry all years (Year 1-8)
- Junior School Taster Weekend on 5-6 October 2019, entry all years, including Scholarship assessments (Year 4-8)
- Taster Morning on Friday 31 January 2020, entry at Year 1-4 only
