English Literature & Creative Writing Teacher Vacancy

This is an exciting opportunity to work at a prestigious and well-established Summer School in 2020 for children aged 8-16 from approximately 35 nationalities. Gordonstoun has a beautiful campus and staff can take full advantage of the lovely local area. Many of the existing staff return each year and enjoy the courses just as much as the students! We offer a competitive salary with accommodation on site provided.

There are two courses for GISS in 2020 and applicants must be available for all the dates as follows;

1st Course: *Wednesday 8 July 2020 to Monday 3 August 2020

2nd Course: *Wednesday 15 July 2020 to Monday 10 August 2020

* Staff are required to be here two days before the students arrive on the Friday of each course.

The English department is a critical academic course for the Summer School with classes and activities timetabled into the evening and weekends. The age range of the students is 8-16, classes sizes are approximately 6-8 students and are streamed by ability. The Teacher will plan and manage high quality lessons ensuring students are kept engaged and motivated. Teachers are encouraged to provide their own class plans and to work with the student’s preferences to some extent.

Outside of the classroom activities, this role is also expected to participate in supporting and managing other activities which are part of the summer school, for example taking trips or supervising a recreational activity on site.
