Gordonstoun is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative Head of Science to join this excellent department. The ability to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics to GCSE and A Level is essential.  You will be someone who can enthuse students and promote the importance of science to young people of Gordonstoun, in order to help them gain formal qualifications and aid them in taking their place as twenty first century international citizens.  

All candidates should be registered with or eligible to register with, the GTCS, as this is a condition of employment and the ability to contribute to the broader curriculum would be an advantage.

The position and the role of the Head of Science

The Head of Science will be a sector expert and will;

  • promote academic and intellectual development across all disciplines
  • lead teachers in implementation of curriculum and instructional practices that result in exceptional student achievement and teaching
  • be responsible for the day to day smooth running of the Science Department.

The post holder will be a member of the Heads of Department committee and expected to promote best practice in all areas of science. The Head of Science will predominantly manage the delivery of the Science Curriculum across Years 7 to 13 and provide support for the delivery of Science in the Junior School.
