General Catering Assistant

Situated on the beautiful Moray Coast in the North of Scotland, Gordonstoun is widely recognised as the world leader in character education. We have a co-educational community of over 500 students aged from 6-18, who are predominantly full boarding and are drawn from over 40 countries.

The purpose of the role is to provide first class service to the catering team and our customers. In addition, you will be supporting our talented catering team to provide fine dining for events and visits from distinguished and often high-profile guests, alongside preparing nutritious food for adventure experiences, whether that is a trip to the Cairngorms or sailing a yacht to the Arctic.

Working at Gordonstoun comes with many benefits, including a sense of corporate citizenship, where you become part of the family.

We offer a range of free accredited training courses to support staff and help them in their chosen profession or to diversify into other roles.

There is a generous pension scheme and other staff support benefits.

We have our own fleet of minibuses which allows us to offer subsidised transport from Hopeman, Burghead and Lossiemouth.

The award-winning chefs at our Refectory offer a diverse range of foods cooked on site and you will be entitled to free staff meals while on shift. Gordonstoun will pay for your membership of the PVG scheme and you will have access to a staff discount scheme and cycle to work scheme.

For the full-time roles, working hours are on average 37.5 hours per week for 43 weeks per year. At present we are recruiting for part time positions. These shifts would ideally suit candidates who are looking for evening work (5pm until 8pm) and weekend work. The Refectory works on a set two-week rota. Holidays are paid every quarter pro rata.

We have a generous salary scale which is performance led, with the potential to work your way up the pay scales or look at interdepartmental working, where you can apply to work across a range of roles within the Facilities Team. Starting hourly pay for these roles is £6.56-£8.91 per hour, increasing to £9.50 per hour following a successful appraisal and with an opportunity to move up to £9.70 per hour if you take on extra responsibilities. These roles are hourly paid.

Gordonstoun is striving to build a team that is truly inclusive. We welcome applications from marginalised and under-represented groups.
