How to apply
How to apply
As one of Scotland’s best private schools, we understand the importance of challenges. However, we don’t believe our application process should be one of them, which is why we’ve made it very straightforward.
Our admissions department is on hand to help in any way we can. We can let you know exactly where you are in the process and what happens next. Feel free to call or email us if you have questions at any stage.
Step 1 | Your child's details
Simply provide us with your child’s details through our online enquiry form or give us a call on 01343 837 829.
Step 2 | Arrange your visit
We do not hold Open Days as we want to tailor your visit and get to know each child and their family. You are welcome to come for a visit any morning in term time, Monday to Saturday, and we are always delighted if you would join us for lunch and try out the delicious food. During your visit, you will meet the admissions team and the Headmaster, have a tour of the school with a current student and be shown a boarding house by a Housemaster or Housemistress.
Please let us know in advance about any of your child’s particular interests - for example, an academic subject, sport or musical instrument - and we will do our best to introduce you to a specialist in that area. If your child currently has learning support, it’s important to let us know so we can ensure a seamless continuation of this help and guidance with our Head of Learning Support.
It is easy to get to Gordonstoun and we are happy to give advice on travel plans and good local accommodation.
When planning your visit, it is better to visit during term time when there are students around – it will give you a great sense of our school – but if your only option is to coming during holidays, we will do our utmost to fit in with your plans .
Step 3 | Give us some important information
We need a reference from your child’s current school so will ask you for the Headteacher’s contact details. This is important as we will not be able to decide whether to offer a place until we have their reference.
We will also give you a Health Information Form to complete, and we will need a copy of your son or daughter’s latest school report.
If English is not your child’s first language they will also need to complete an English assessment before your visit.
Step 4 | Keeping you informed
With all this information, and after meeting you all, we will inform you by email if we think your child will be happy, fulfilled and able to contribute to life at Gordonstoun. If this is the case we will be delighted to offer them a place at our school.
If you wish to accept the place you need to complete the contract (which will be sent with that email) and return it to us. We will then send you an invoice for the deposit. On payment of the deposit, your child’s place at Gordonstoun is secured and we can all look forward to an exciting future together.
